Former professional football player Patrick Kluivert visits SIMABÔ

The former professional football player Patrick Kluvier and his family are travelling to the island of Sao Vicente on Wednesday to visit SIMABÔ. Patrick, who has also been financially supporting the animal welfare organization WWW.ABANDONEDPETSFOUNDATION.NL, declared his desire to help SIMABÔ.

The goal is to build up a partnership, in order to secure future donations for SIMABO. Patrick would also like to present SIMABÔs work and the difficulties we’re facing to a broader public, in order to attract more support.

According to Patrick, all of his family members are very fond of animals, especially of those who don’t have an owner. We deeply appreciate the kindness of Patrick and his family members. We need more friends like him!

Example of solidarity, II

We really appreciate our collaboration with the fire services here in Sao Vicente. For saving a dog that had been struck by a car and bringing it to us, the fire fighters deserve a huge praise for their solidarity and humanity!

We strongly believe that one day, everyone here in Cape Verde, from the public services to every single citizen, will show the same love and respect for the animals that live here with us. We will do our contribution to achieve this goal.

In the hours of pain, but also of joy, we are all the same. Cats and dogs as much as us.

Example of solidarity

Recently, SIMABÔ was donated a new freezer for the kitchen in the main building.

This generous donation was made by Rossella Rigacci (in this picture together with her brother), daughter of the vets Benedetta Rigacci Giannini and Roberto who volunteered with us during Christmas and New Years 2011. They brought their children with them, who helped us out a lot!

After receiving her communion, Rossela asked her parents to donate the freezer instead of receiving a gift. The greatest gift for Rossela, it seems, is doing a good deed.

SIMABÔ sends Rossela and her brother the greatest gratitude of us and all the animals that will benefit from her donation. We hope they remain such kind people for their entire life.

Our gratitude

Our gratitude and admiration for all the tireless and hard-working volunteer vets who support our cause will never cease. We are extremely grateful for all the love, kindness and attention they dedicate to our animals.

In May, it was Dr. Salvador Mascarenhas (picture above on the left, with Dr. William on the right) who helped us treat the animals that needed it. Dr. Mascarenhas is from Sao Vicente, but lives and works in his clinic in Portugal. He treats pets, stray and wild animals, and farm animals.

During his stay, we were able to neuter 163 animals – an enormous contribution to our cause! Until now, SIMABÔ vets have approximately neutered ten thousand animals.

Many thanks, Dr. Mascarenhas!
